I can finally tick off laning in Wales from my bucket list. Amazing place especially if you are coming from Suffolk.
Our route was mainly the top half of this loop [download id=”83″]. Happy valley is less marked but is to the North East of Barmouth.
It is safe to say there was a cracking amount of rust inside the wheel arches. So much so that I could put my hand through the floor. A number of quarry days and laning previously had ended up with pretty wet floor inside with a literal flood once. So with an impending trip to Wales something needed to be done.
So it is safe to say that wheel spinning without engaging diff lock is a bad idea. After some quarry days it would seem that my transfer case is stuck permanently locked. I learnt after the case that it is a weak spot on a Discovery 1, or I guess any Land Rover / Range Rover with the same running gear. It certainly became clear after some loud banging whilst turning tight corners on tarmac. Anyways this video shows you how to swap out your box with a replacement.
Always seems to be a lot of uming and uring when it comes to cleaning an engine bay out. Let this pressure washing video take away your concerns away.
Finally some snow, time to hit the lanes. Suffolk, whilst being, flat does has a good amount of lanes to get around on. So is green laning called white laning when in the snow?
Seems I am not the only one to have this issue with the Mercedes 190e blower motor. My motor seems like it burnt out partly because the vent shut off was permanently down.
